Sun Oddly Quiet -- Hints at Next "Little Ice Age"?

By: Griffin McKinzie

Summary: The sun has weirdly been dimmer than before. In the last couple decades this is the only time that it has been this weak. Scientists want to see what’s going to happen next. They want to see if anything out of the ordinary is going to happen. Something out of the ordinary would be if the sun turned off, the sun exploded, the sun lost its juice, or if the sun was blocked off by some space cloud. If any of those things happened it could be hard for the Earth. What do you think? Is the Aztec calendar correct? Will the world end?

Why I Chose this Article?-I chose this article because I was looking for an article and I thought this one would be good. Also other people have been talking about space and I thought I could help out. I think this could be really bad.

Griffin!
Great job on your article. I love how you summed up the summary because it was so easy to understand. I think an important part of the article that you forgot to mention was that there was an unusual cold spell in Europe and America from 1300-1850. Again, great job!

Great job summarizing your article. I felt you hit most of the main points, but could have also included just a little more about what the sun weakening can actually do to the Earth (for instance how the article states that even a 50% variation in solar brightness could end life on Earth). But overall, great job summarizing the article and making it clear how important this news can end up being globally!

You did great summarizing the article, though I feel that some of the important points in the article were left out of your summary, like the aftermath of such a climate change. BUt, overall, you did a great job of making your summary clear and thorough. Great wrok!

You did a great job on the summary of this article. I was very interested and drawn in to read more. You made the article sound very intriguing and fun to read. I feel that you could have included that the greenhouse gases are helping make this issue seem less important due to the fact that there is a bigger increase of gases in comparison to the decrease of light from the sun. Overall you did a great job!

I loved your article on how the sun has been dimming. Something that wasn't mentioned was that the coldest period of the Little Ice Age, between 1645 and 1715, has been linked to a deep dip in solar storms known as the Maunder Minimum. But, you did captivate my attention with your article. Good job!
